About
About High Neighbour
We run community events for apartment buildings. The goal is simple: get residents in the same room, get them talking, and let the building change from there.
About
We run community events for apartment buildings. The goal is simple: get residents in the same room, get them talking, and let the building change from there.
Our story
High Neighbour started with a problem we kept seeing in apartment buildings: residents wanted to know each other, but no one had the time or bandwidth to make it happen. Managers were stretched. Committees had enough on their plate. Good social ideas came up, but turning them into real events was another job.
Shuennie Loo was already running corporate events when she was asked to try one for a residential building. It worked. She has not stopped since.
The team
Shuennie leads the High Neighbour team to facilitate and run the event on the day. We’re a small team, meaning every pre-event interaction is with someone who will actually be in your building on the day. That’s the standard we work to.
Our values
Communities don’t form by accident.
They’re hosted into existence. Someone has to plan the night, send the invites and stand at the door. That’s the job. We do that job.
The bar to participation should be low.
The reward should be high. Not everyone in your building wants to come. The ones who do should leave with a few new names and a reason to come back.
We’re guests in your building.
We act like it. Your residents don’t owe us anything, and we don’t pretend otherwise. Our job is to leave the place better than we found it, in every sense.
Our reach
We run events across roughly ten apartment buildings, in partnership with three owner-corporation managers and direct with committees in other buildings. The team is Melbourne and Sydney based.
